Kurt Eugene Johnson

Kurt E. Johnson was born to Hardy and Joan Johnson on June 6, 1964, in Perry, Oklahoma, and he passed from this life on March 14, 2015, after an extended illness. Kurt had recently suffered from kidney failure and a heart attack due to complications from diabetes. He is with his Savior now and is no longer suffering.

Kurt was a Scale Master at Borg Compressed Steel until December of 2013, when his health forced him to retire. He loved his family and friends, and he was an avid sports fan. Kurt was a devoted OU Sooner fan, and he loved the Oklahoma City Thunder and NASCAR. He pulled for the Texas Rangers and followed professional baseball closely. He also enjoyed college and professional football, filling out his brackets for March Madness, and watching just about any sporting event on the weekend with his neighbors, Mike Colbert and Erica. Kurt kept up with politics and had become an avid conservative. He could be found most evenings in his easy chair surfing the sports channels or watching “The O’Reilly Factor,” where he loved Bill O’Reilly’s “No Spin Zone” commentaries on US politics. Kurt was an animal lover and had numerous beloved pets. Even more, he loved his daughter, grandkids, nephews and nieces. Kids always put a smile on his face.

Kurt is survived by his parents, Hardy and Joan Johnson of Broken Arrow, OK; his daughter, Heather Meeks, and her husband, Keith Meeks, of Pryor, OK; three grandchildren, Cameron Sellers, Brookelynn Martin, and Breonna Martin, of Pryor, OK; his sister, Lynn Johnson Presson, and her husband, Tim Presson of Fort Worth, TX; his four nephews and nieces, Reece Presson of Nashville, TN, Addie Presson, Avery Presson, and Ross Presson, all of Fort Worth, TX; his uncles, aunts, cousins, former work associates, friends, and some of the best neighbors in the world who watched out for him faithfully for over 23 years.

Visitation will be held at the Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, March 18, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Kurt’s funeral will be held on Thursday, March 18, at 1:00 pm, at First Baptist Church of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma (100 W. Albany St., Broken Arrow, OK 74012).
